Luke, how did you make your banner? What program? 
He used Gimp. I used a mixture of programs including Gimp, Photoscape, and Word (I don’t know what I am doing…).
When I’m browsing on the forums I always see these really cool and intricate banners if people could tell how to make them and how to put them on your posts it would be appreciated.
I think you are referring to signatures. You can put anything in them, some people put banners, or plain text, or nothing. To edit your signature, go to ‘User CP’ > Edit Signature.

However, seen here, there is a max height, and I think part of your signature is cut off.

Anyone may post their banners/signature in progress because I know a lot of people our making theirs for the new skyrise season.
PSA: The forums are about communicating ideas, not creating the flashiest signature. Keep It Simple, Silly. Nobody wants to be reading your opinion and constantly be irritated by eye-candy-esque banners.

There is a preview page after you edit it. Or you can just go to past posts to look at. No need to make new posts just to test a signature banner. I just copied the dimensions of matthew@aura’s and made the rest in photoshop. It seems it stretches the post a bit, but the way the forum is coded, I don’t think it matters too much.

I like it when the post is at least close to as thick as the signature. 
Yeah, one of these days I’ll get around to fixing that.
As for software, GIMP is probably the best because it’s free. Photoshop is good too if you have access to it (I made ours in Photoshop). They’re both fairly complex programs though, so I would recommend following a tutorial to get the basics.

Yeah, I have the same question. I am not that tech savvy, but I still want to put our banner in the signature.
You need the url of the image. So you’ll need to upload it to Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, Imgur, etc. Make sure sharing is public and copy the image url.
Alternatively, you could probably upload to the VEX gallery, but it’s not really meant for hosting signature images

I did a few tests awhile back to find the “maximum” size for a signature (without making your posts stretch) to be 149x953.
Just note that stretching vertically will make it cut-off, because there is a vertical limit on signatures. However, stretching horizontally (as long as it isn’t overboard), is sort of okay. It makes the posts appear like so, if you notice the top right side of this post right now. You can see it’s stretched horizontally compared to the post above.
