How young can students be in order to compete in vex robotics gateway? I know middle school and high school students can do it but what about elementary students?
If their hands are big enough to hold the controls, they can play! There is no lower age limit, although they will have to expect to be playing mostly with older students.
Pan Pacific 2009 had several elementary students from China. One was about seven i think. So there doesn’t seem to be a minimum.
We’ve had elementary students on our middle school teams. We sometimes allow that if there is an older sister/brother on another team. We look at it on a case by case basis, mostly will they be able to deal with the bigger kids. One of the programming stars of our Firefighting contest teams was an elementary student and his dad. Turns out he really could program.
