The Highrise rules state the following regarding modification of parts:
“No parts or components may be modified in any way (including, but not limited to bending, cutting, and melting).”
I am very glad that this rule is in place for VEX-IQ since it minimizes the cost of maintaining complete kits from year to year. However there is one aspect that is providing a challenge to my teams. Depending on robot design, the metal axles that are available leave the option for axles that are too short, or too long such that they stick out too far from the wheels. When they stick out, they catch other robots, cubes, etc. My teams currently are adhering to the rule as we have interpreted it, and are not cutting axles. But they have asked that I confirm that this was the intent and that the axles cannot be cut.
