VEX IQ Brain freeze when starting a program

Pardon me if this has been answered already, but I did not see the exact behavior mentioned.
Here is the workflow I followed:

  • Create a very simple program (just print a message to the brain screen)
  • Download the program to the brain.
  • If I navigate to the “Programs” menu on the brain, the program name is displayed as expected.
  • Hit the checkmark, and “Run” shows up.
  • Hit the checkmark, and the brain freezes - meaning, the buttons don’t do anything. even holding down “X” does not do anything.

What I have tried:

  • factory reset
  • force loading firmware.

Any ideas what the issue might be? If this is a hardware issue, what are my options?

Delete all the programs on the brain and start over, you most likely have corrupted python system files.

Use “Delete All” from the settings screen, all program slots will be erased.

Probably best to test the first download using a direct USB connection to the brain.

Out of curiosity, do you normally connect direct to the brain or do you program via the controller ? Or iPad ?
