In autonomous, if you clear a corral, but still have some of the "lemons " possessed by your robot, do you still get credit for a clear corral if you move your robot to go onto another code?
Yes, you can reset your robot and take the balls off the field. The corral would still be cleared for five points as long as the robot is not in the corral.
The only thing that matters is whether there are any balls in the corral at the end of the match. Where the balls go after you remove them from the corral is not a factor.
That is what I thought but there was a discussion on the point at a recent event.
Also note that the robot must be controlling the ball, and that the robot must be reset to another starting position.
What was the particular question they had?
One weird edge case: If the ball is contacting a robot and a corral at the buzzer, the corral would not be cleared.
Based on the definition of the word “Cleared” on page 5 of the game manual, as long as a ball isn’t in contact with the floor in a starting corral, then it is scored as cleared.
This means if your robot lifts the ball off the floor, and the robot is sitting in the corral, then the ball is cleared. The corral is the floor itself, NOT the infinite space above the floor.
The discussion was about whether credit should be given if they still have possession if the robot controlled the ball while in the corral area when it was being moved to another starting point for a new program to be run.
If the robot had control of the ball (look up the definition of control in the game manual) when the team chose to reset, then the ball is removed from the field.
If the corral is empty at the end of the match, they will get credit for a cleared corral.
