At battle of the bots in portland tenesee, we saw a bot that litteraly vacuums all the blocks. They claim they came up with the design, but we think otherwise. If anyone knows the instructions, or a way to find them, let me know. Thank!

Welcome to the forums! This is called a “meta” bot. In any competition where there are people competing, there will always be a meta. Card games, robot competitions, I could go on and on. Maybe they did not come up with the “idea” themselves, but assuming they did not buy a robot from the black market, they designed, built, and programed it themselves.
But, calling them out on a public forum and accusing them of beaking the code of conduct is misguided to say the least.
P.S. instructions for good bots can be found on the black market, but it is heartbreaking to know that people in the VEX community should stoop that low.
Looking/asking for instructions is a horrible thing to do. Do not stoop so low or violate the reputation of your team by using instructions. A good team will build a good robot. Do not look at a good team and complain “instructions” simply because they are better. Try to improve off what you see of their bot, but dont ever EVER purchase instructions for a full vex robot. That is not what Vex is for.
Let me jump in as huge fan of the “photo sets” that Ben Lipper sends out. You get all 6 sides of the robot. We use them as “ahaha” moments on seeing how a mechanism get’s built. Not as a copy item but as a build prompt on how to do something better. I also use a set of 6 Lego books that have simple machines, wheeled wonders and fantastic contraptions. They are all inspiration. And inspiration is where it’s at! We are here to find inspiration to add to the next iteration; not to build clones.
