We purchased 2 Gen 2 kits. One controller joystick broke just before state and VEX rushed a replacement controller .
Now our second controller has the same issue and our brain is having issues. Our rep did give us things to try but with worlds 2 weeks away we are goibng back to our Gen 1 brain and controller.

What is broken on the controller ?
The joystick periodically gets stuck to the left.
The brain would not exit the program or turn off without taking the battery out. The robot was moving sporatically while trying to drive straight for example.
Are you fully updated to vexos 1.0.4 ? That sounds like an issue we addressed in that update.
