Are you guys still going to use the long intake for rapid loading for Worlds, since the 3.0 game update?
I have never used the long intake, but I think that the game manual update made it harder to use a long intake.
I think it is still very helpful, as it allows for easier passes, and intaking the ball faster. This being said, it would make the ball a lot harder to maneuver, as its longer.
Now you would have to drive the bot into the ball.
I’m actually building one today. Just by placing a ball on the field without rolling then driving forward ~ 6 in, you should be able to get close to the same as before the update. The 3rd placed world skills team got a 400 autonomous skills after the update, and I’m pretty sure they used the “long intake” (usully called an intake extention). If you have time, I would reccomend you try it.
What if a ball is about to be scored but the robot drives forward and the ball falls out?
Definitely worth it; though keep in mind that this is slightly harder to drive. It’s not as broken as before but its pretty good especially for skills.
Adding on to what you said, if you have extra motors or pneumatics, you could have a mechanism pulling the the ball from the rapid load to the long intake, this would allow for it to be even more effactive.
