Vex IQ Rapid Relay Ideas

I have an idea for this year’s Vex IQ comp. This idea would use a conveyer belt mechanism to pick up the balls and puts them into the scoring zone. I have no idea if it would work because of the hight limit. If you all have any ideas share them if you want to.

Post your ideas about rapid relay in this forum. Good luck to any teams playing this game.(as a refrence a convaer belt that is 12 feet long to make the relays easier.)

That was might first thought also. I wasn’t sure if “dropping” the ball from the end of the conveyor belt into the other team’s bot would count as a “pass” or not though and passing is where the points are really going to be made in this game.

I think “pass” means don’t touch two bot at same time.
So my idea is like a hockey. bot A push to bot B, and bot B shoot.

My idea regarding the loader is that as soon as the human hand releases the ball, the robot moves in and occupies the load station (since it wasn’t allowed to enter the load zone before). Then, a dump truck-like mechanism places the ball into the ‘CAM’ barrel and gently pushes it towards the next robot.
The other robot has a similar structure, but it hardly needs to move. It simply stands in the center, waiting for the ball to be passed by the first robot. Once it receives the ball, it shoots.
This scenario could utilize a lot of automatic settings. For example, an AI camera could assist with aiming, or there could be automatic coordination with the loader to pick up the ball.

I think it is legal for your own robot to touch the other robot to pass. I would have to research that. Thank for the input!

I have another idea for this year’s vex is comp. It would be where the robots launch the balls into the goals with 2 spinning mechanisms that fling the balls into the goals. I am trying to make a sketch of what this would look like.

Ooooh…I assumed a pass needed to be through the air but I did wonder if a soccer/hockey style pass along the ground would also count? Perhaps it’s any “intentional” robot initiated movement of the game ball between two robots without said robots coming into direct contact with each other?

another good idea could be a small fast robot that can shoot the ball into the goals or the other robot with a vision senser but they discontinued it so it could use the optical senser and chatgpt could program it to be accurate.

Seriously though my idea is a conveyor belt (similar to that used in V5RC tower takeover) to collect the balls as it would most likely be more accurate than the intake on the hero bot and then uses a conveyor belt to launch the ball into the goal and for passes
