We are a new team so please pardon our ignorance. Can you please confirm that the elementary team can make design their own version of robot ( follow the manaul) but also tweak it and test to make sure it works. Or do we need to follow the manual step by step for making robots? Isnt it limiting if the team is following everything as per the manual?
The game manual. What is swiss hero bot instruction? I have read and researched but didnt come
across swiss hero bot (yet). Thank you for your responseZ
Yes you can create your own robot how you want it to be, just make sure it can do the tasks on the game! The robot has to pass the “robot rules” listed in the manual.
Thank you. Today, we started building our 1st robot and realized vex only send us part of the competition kit. Has that happened with anyone else?
The kids are supper excited to build the hero bots but we do-not have half of the kit. I will contact Vex Sales but we were hoping to make progress. Disappointed and lost. It’s a new 2nd generation competition kit.
Hi Reena, the basic bot to play this years game is called SWISH and it can be found here
I don’t know why you only got 1/2 of the parts. You should have gotten 4 blue boxes of parts. Look at this link https://www.vexrobotics.com/iq-competition-kits.htm to see pictures of the tops of all the boxes. You should be able to tell VEX sales on Tuesday what you are missing. You can call or send them an email at [email protected], Email may be better because you can send pictures of what you got.
Others have pointed out you can build your own robot design, most teams do that. You can google search for “Ben Lipper Rapid Relay” he has pictures of about 4 different robots you can build. For example you can build the LINQ robot (instructions on the page above) and add a ball roller scoop to the front. It won’t be a great robot but it will give you other ideas.
The nice thing about VEX IQ is the robots can be quickly (a few hours) into a new design. So as the season progresses, the team can change and improve their design.
