Because despite being named the “V5 VersaPlanetary Mount” it is not actually a V5 product. What the “V5” in the name actually means, I have no idea. @DRow ?
Anyways see this Q&A for clarification:

It means thay you can screw it to V5 metals and such. (Like structurally compatible, since it is a structure component). Says so in the product description.
“V5” means that a product is compatible with V5 products in the same category (like “V5” electronics are compatible with a V5 brain, “V5” axles are compatible with V5 wheels and motors, “V5” metal thingys are compatible with V5 structure in terms of hole spacing, etc.)
That makes more sense, I read V5 compatible and thought VRC Legal
The GDC has answered the question, what the OP did is perfectly legal.

the team we paired with at us open in spin up did ths but motor rules are stricter now
To the argument going on about if the holders are vrc allowed or not, don’t worry I have used c channel cutout like this to secure it:
Sorry for a really late reply, I wanted to shave the motor because I wanted the bot to fit under the net and just because of that 1inch extension of the motor it was not able to.
