Our pneumatics seem to work strangely, when they extend they work fine, but when they pull in, they go in slowly and not fast at all, we figure it is due to the grey fitting that is the shape of an L, is there any way to fix this/make them pull in fast?
Are you using single or double acting pneumatic cylinders?
the gray L shaped thing is a regulator that slows the air coming out of that section of the piston. you can change how much it regulates by taking a pin or small screwdriver and turning the flat piece until it regulates the desired amount.
hope this helps
as cyber brains said, the gray l shaped thing is a regulator that slows the air coming out of that section of the piston. When the piston extends, it takes in pressurized air, but to retract, it air needs to be vented out, but your regulator allows it to at a slow speed. You can get some small or medium scissors and use one scissor tip to push the metal piece of the regulator counterclockwise to get the desired effect.
While using a normal screwdriver, scissors, etc works to adjust the flow regulator on the piston, I would recommend making a quick tool to adjust it so you don’t risk damaging anything. Just take a screw and Dremel or saw a small notch into the end of it.
