VEX PROS Extremely Slow

For some reason PROS has been working very slowly on my computer. Abnormally slow. It’s taking upwards of 5 minutes to do things like opening a new project. I’ve had to try starting a new project because the current one I was working on had issues. When I opened VSCode it would take a few minutes for the PROS extension to turn on and open the pop-up starting page. After that, it would refuse to download or build the program.

To fix this, I uninstalled and reinstalled the PROS extension many times. I’ve also uninstalled and reinstalled the PROS from the “Manage PROS” menu a few times. When doing this, the reinstall would never completely work. Either the CLI or the Toolchain would fail to download. Verifying PROS Installation would start to load but would literally never finish verifying. Clicking the Install PROS option would do absolutely nothing, nothing would even show up. I had to quit VSCode, open it again, wait 2 minutes for PROS to start up (sometimes I just wouldn’t), and then it would top a message telling me the CLI isn’t working would you like to install it. That’s how I’ve had to trouble shoot so far.

Which bring us to this point: I’ve restarted my computer, pros extension, pros from the “Manage PROS Menu”, even attempted starting a new program but I still can’t get PROS (or maybe it’s VSCode but I don’t think so) to work at a reasonable pace nor can I get PROS to download the CLI and ToolChain.

Is it just the pros that runs slow, or has anything else on your computer gotten slower? This question will indicate whether it’s an issue with pros or a broader issue with your computer.

Hope this helps

No, its a new(ish) computer with 32g Ram and everything works more or less correctly.

I ended up fixing the problem but will leave an explanation for anyone in the future:

I fixed the problem by going into the folders globalStorage>sigbots.pro>and find the toolchain and CLI and manually deleting them. Then I downloaded from the PROS website but the zip file in there and then extracted it and renamed the folder what they were called before.
Then I did some messing around with editing system environment variables and stuff and after 6 hours of troublshooting and ChatGPTing, everything finally works at a good pace.

Idk how it started but i’m happy it ended. Thanks for checking up tho
