Does anyone know anything about this? I looked at the link and the game looks like Round Up - just with a back story and no ladder.

Since I probably won’t be able to make it to the World Championship this year - Walt Disney World is great, but Dallas was closer and cheaper - I thought maybe I could go to this since I live in a suburb of Kansas City.

They can’t use unlimited VEX parts, but the kit they use does contain most of the VEX parts available. It will be interesting to see what they come up with this added design constrant!

The SkilsUSA event is not another VEX Robotics Competition you just sign up for …

It is a program like TSA or PLTW that your school would have to be involved in.

They compete in over 90 skills areas (Electronics, masonry, automotive repair, etc) and have now added a robotics competition to the mix. It just happens to use the VEX design platform to do it.

At the National Competition in Kansas City you have to build your robot ON SITE based on designs documented in your engineering notebook. You are only allowed to bring your notebook - NO robot - they give you the parts there. Most local events compete with pre-built robots and are used to test and document design ideas.

One twist - Note the statement that says be prepared for changes … The game may not be EXACTLY what is documented in the manual - there may be an Engineering Change Order at the last minute … so you have to be prepared to adapt.

Wow, that sounds really cool and really hard at the same. Do you have any details about last years challenge?

That is an absurdly cool competition - I’ve always wanted to enter something like that.
