September 2010
Greetings VEX Community,
The 2010/2011 VEX Robotics Competition season is beginning with a bang! Read this update to the end and learn about a big announcement coming up next week.
VEX ROBOTICS ALL-STAR CHALLENGE AT ESPN’s WIDE WORLD OF SPORTS® COMPLEX at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
The 2nd Annual VEX Robotics All-Star Challenge event at Disney World is open for registration. The event will be Nov 11-13 in Orlando, Florida. We have some tremendous hotel packages that include park passes and airport transportation. Registration and hotel booking details are at the All-Star Challenge event page at RobotEvents.com. We’ve been working with the ESPN and Disney coordinators all summer, and they’ve got some great plans to make the 2010 All-Star Challenge an amazing event.
One planned addition is a College All-Star Challenge. ESPN and Disney have told us that if college teams want to play, they’ll add space for a College tournament. We’ve opened registration to see how many college teams want to come and play – so sign up now if interested and we’ll officially confirm the tournament in September.
** SPECIAL OFFER ** Disney World is providing World Championship grants to the winning teams that qualify at the All-Star Challenge. That’s right, as an added bonus – the winning teams (for both the middle/high school tournament and the college tournament) will get a grant that helps cover the cost of attending the 2011 VEX Robotics World Championship from Disney! More details will be posted on the event web page by mid September.
2010 WORLDS UPDATE #1: MIDDLE SCHOOL DIVISION ANNOUNCED
The demand for middle school teams has exceeded our wildest expectations. So much so, that we will have a dedicated middle school division at the World Championship this year! Middle schools will continue to compete with High Schools at most local tournaments, of course, but will have the option to enter a Middle School only division at the 2011 World Championship.
2010 WORLDS UPDATE #2: QUALIFICATION CRITERIA ANNOUNCED
Want to go to the World Championship this year? Be sure to read the Qualification criteria at the World Championship page at RobotEvents.com. Special Note: You have to sign up for Worlds within FOUR WEEKS of the date you qualify, or you will loose your guaranteed spot and be placed on a wait list that will begin admitting teams on March 1st if space is available…
