VEX Shaft Collar Screw Option

In an effort to move as many of our screws to Torx (Star drive) - I have been trying to located a replacement set screw for the VEX Shaft Collars. The closest thing I’ve found is a Stainless Steel Torx Flat Head Screws 8-32 Thread Size, 1/4" Long. This screw seems to work great - but is obviously quite a bit different from the screw it is replacing.

By my understanding of R7c in the VEX Manual - (Any commercially available #4, #6, #8, M2, M2.5, M3 or M4 screw up to 2" long, and any commercially available nut and/or washer to fit these screws.) - this should be legal - but I wanted to get a confirmation before we found out otherwise at a competition.

Thanks!

Of course, to get an official answer, you would need to post your question in the official Q&A, but I’m fairly sure this is 100% legal under R7c. Collars have been used along with threaded couplers and standoffs to make some interesting supports, for example.

See, for example: https://vexforum.com/t/unconventional-use-of-vex-parts/22775/1

I actually did post this question in the official Q&A - but after 3 days I didn’t have an answer - so I thought I would try the unofficial. I don’t see how it wouldn’t be legal - but I thought I would look for a second opinion.

The example is brilliant! Thanks for sharing that.
