So I saw a couple teams earlier this season tipping mobile goals to prevent descoring, but I was wondering if it was legal to do this and if it would still get double points.
No, a tipped mobile goal cannot be considered placed in the positive corner. This is because of SC5b, which states
b. Some portion of the flexible top of the Mobile Goal’s Stake is higher than the top edge of the Field Perimeter.
However, while tipping a mobile goal prevents it from being placed in the positive corner, it also prevents it from being placed in the negative corner (unless it is righted), so the strategy can be used in this way as well.
