Vex Swiss intake without flaps

What are some ideas for a vex Swiss intake without flaps? We really need immediate help. Thanks!

Could you please describe what a “Swiss intake” is? That’s not a term that I’m familiar with.

HMMMMMMM I don’t know that name either. A picture and brief description would be helpful and then we can bust out some ideas about it.

Perhaps you mean the (so called) NZ intake from Gateway? I don’t know why it would be called Swiss, though.

If that’s the case, have you tried using stand-offs? Just screw them to the tread pieces, and they work. We did that in Gateway.

With hard objects this might damage your chain or sprockets, unless your rollers are able to move away from each other.

I have also seen teams use zip ties as a substitute for flaps, not sure how effective they were.

It could be a swiss army intake (i.e. picks everything up) or a swiss cheese intake (full of holes, everything falls out).

Polycarb is a viable alternative to flaps as well,

Matt

If you’re referring to side rollers that can pick everything up without flaps, my team does that. We currently use nsp held on by rubber bands. However, I’m fancying the idea of using pure rubber bands. I think they have better grip then nsp

Unlike other side rollers, we don’t flip top down style, we flip side to side

Interesting…Ive never seen polycarb used as an alternative to flaps. Gotta try it out

2915A Jack Attack used polycarb flaps in sack attack.
