I am currently working on making a drift car and I want it to have a three-speed transmission I don’t know how to start that it will be driving in rwd as it does not need turning capabilities as I’m going to make the front wheels turn I am going to be using green motors so 200rpm and I think I want to fit a 1:2, 1:1 and a 3:1 one for more to make the rpm of all three types of motors how do I do this
I’d almost do 600 RPM motors… 300 RPM at the 1:2 isnt really gonna do much but if it’s light enough then you could do a drag race speet at 1800RPM then a drift at 600ish, then do a cruise speed at 450 or something. What wheels are you gonna do?
I would recommend using a PTO system if you have access to pneumatics, If you don’t you could use a motor to move the gear in a similar way as in a PTO.
Here is a link to a YouTube video that shows how to make a basic PTO with pneumatics: https://youtu.be/3tkbR7OZv7A
Omni on back roller in the front
I think he meant the size
For the gearbox search YT. However I believe green motor w/ 1:1, 1:2 and 1:3 gear ration won’t do much, you gotta increase it more. Of course that means at least a stacked 6 motor drive or something (4 motor won’t do, I’ve tried to make a drift car before).
Agree (you want to do rwd yes?)
Correct i want rwd front wheels will turn
Based on the gears available, your best 3 ratios would be 3:5, 4:4, and 5:3. This would allow a single axle to have the drive gears, as they are all the same distance from the driven gears. For 200rpm carts, your output would be 120, 200 and 333rpm.
I’m not sure about the turning of the front wheel. I know that you want the omnis at the back in order to drift, but I’m doubting that the properties of the omnis will give no sideway friction, which is crucial in order to drift. In the past, I’d just simply use an arcade drive and 2 independent rear axel to drift.
If you do a robot chassis with as many omnis as you want and try to make it semi light ish you could do 343RPM 4 inch. That would make it fast and maneuverable
