Vex V5 Controller Issue

I have an issue with the vex v5 controller. I plugged it in to my brain to turn it on and on the controller’s screen I saw the image below.

So I started the program from the brain, I was able to control my bot. The controller still looked like it did in the image above. Later it disconnected with the image and I cannot connect it to my brain. Please help, I have a tournament soon and I need the controller to work.

That indicates the controller needs an update, did the brain not show a screen asking to update the controller when you tethered it ?

turn everything off and then try again, connect the controller to the brain with a smartcable, follow any instructions on the brain’s screen.

Be SUPER CAREFUL to connect the smart cable to either of the SMALL ports on the controller, NEVER THE LARGE PORT.
