Hello, I have a big question: how legal or illegal would it be to internally modify a VEX V5 motor cartridge for VRC HS or MS. What I think is that according to it is legal to manipulate the hardware and perhaps this cartridge can be considered hardware. Also the stipulates that it is legal to exchange the internal cartridge for another official one, so can it be considered official if official parts are still used internally? or can it be said that it is an erroneous repair?
this Q&A should answer a lot of your questions

You cannot modify te motor cartridges. They have been recently been changed to an “ellectric component” so it is illegal to change them.
I think most people already operated under the assumption that they were “part” of a motor, and therefore “electric”. I must say, this ruling is definitely not surprising. (Except for the part legalizing cartidgeless motors.)
So putting a a highstrength shaft color in like many people are talking about would still be legal? But changing anything with the cartridge would not be?
Do you have a link to where this was stated?
It can be found on page 4 of the offical Q&A, on the post titled “Motor Part Removal”. It’s the first question on the post and the answer is at the bottom.
