Vex worlds qualification

Hi there,

My coah mentioned one of our teams qualified for worlds a few years back with a design award. My question is this design award for the event region? Like does each region have 1 design award winner thst goes to worlds?

this website will tell you exactly how you can qualify for worlds in your region

Hello,

Spots to worlds are determined by the number of available spots allocated to your region. These numbers can be found in this document. Spot allocations for awards are determined based on the spot level of the event, which is determined for each event by the REC Foundation Manager for the region. A table of awards that will give out spots to worlds for each spot level can be found here.

TL;DR: If the event you are attending has a spot level of 4 or more, the winner of the design award will get a spot at worlds.

The design award was for states, so yeah, there’s one design winner per state.

Take a look at this post, and reference it against your regional/state event: Chances of qualifying to worlds - #2 by EngineerMike

There is normal tournaments, and that can qualify you for State, which then in turn can qualify you for Worlds. It is possible this team won the design award at State, which qualifies them for Worlds.

Check the qualifying criteria; it will have the spot allocations for each region, per competition and division. It will also translate the number of spots allocated to which awards qualify as well.

You can find answers to your specific region in this document:

Also, each Championship listing on RobotEvents will list what awards will be given and which will advance to Worlds. (I believe the RECF has updated these for all regional/state/national/signature events).
