Does anyone know how teams are selected from the VEX Robotics World Championships waitlist this year? Is it based on World Skills Ranking, random selection, or something else? Trying to understand if getting on the waitlist would improve our chances. Thanks!
I found this topic from last year:
If selection is random again, then the odds seem pretty good. Elementary School Worlds as of today has 186 spots open and 389 teams on the waitlist. Our regionals had 4 qualifying spots, but 60 teams participated!
From Qualifying Criteria for VEX Robotics Competition Events – REC Library:
- The waitlist for the VEX Robotics World Championship is handled differently from other programs. In no order of precedence, the following factors are considered:
* Season performance, including World Skills ranking
* If a team is from an underrepresented region
* Random selection based on teams on the waitlist
Additional information from previous season:
It is random. However you can’t get in if you are not on the waitlist.
Thanks for the info. I will put our team on the waitlist and hope we get lucky.
Does anyone know when we will be notified if we get selected?
I’m having trouble understanding…
How can a team get in the wait-list for worlds?
What I mean is that, can anyone just get in the wait-list? Because if that’s the case, then teams with no skill level at all would be going to worlds.
I just went to the waitlist tab on robotevents and added our team:
