How about an on-line Vex user supported magazine that publishes Vex construction tips and complete plans for various robotic and animatronic models. Vex CAD (similar to Lego CAD) would be used to draw the models along with plenty of photos.
The original authors would retain copyright to their article and Intellectually Property (IP). The magazine would be edited, managed and published by Vex Labs either on the Forum or in hardcopy format (a quarterly magazine?).
doesnt sound like a bad idea, would most likely be an online magazine though since Vex isn’t too well known by everyone and the maganize wouldnt sell alot in stores

What I would also like to see are books published for VEX similar to what people have done with LEGO. You know like “EasyC for Dummies” or “VEX for Dummies” You know, the IFI engineers could write something in their “spare time”.

It would be nice to use the funds from FIRST to create a monthly magazine. If we were to buy a subscription, they would get their money back, right? If the VEX community were to get this all together in operation, these are the monthly articles that I think would be good in it:
please add in any other sections, these are just some that I think would spark interest in readers. I can’t think of anymore off the top of my head.
directions for a new robot would be good.
also(and this may be mentioned but need clearing up, if the mag. is a wiki, directions for a new non vex addon would be cool

i guess this is very late but why dont we just start a blog where u can download monthly or quarterly magazines? i can start it and anyone can write and add to it

BTW all the editors can communicate through e-mail and share with google docs
also just to mention it would be free for every1 to read, but a donate spot where the editors split the donations to projects for the mag.
It appears most people like this idea, however, at the time of this post there was one who voted, “no” to a magazine. I am curious to hear the reason that person voted “no”.

The Vex Magazine is brilliant! I think that the members of the Vex Forum should start it. I would be more than happy to help out. The magazine could have “the Vex Bot of the year”, competitions, and that kind of stuff. The way to do it would be a free newsletter sent out via email. This is just getting me excited!! Does anyone relize that this is what people did 30yrs ago with computers. I know that there truly is a future for robotics, and a Vex Magazine would be great. – Just let me know how I can contribute.
