We understand that a software release this close to the World Championship could pose a dilemma for teams hesitant to upgrade. However, this update contains crucial bug fixes and functionality improvements imperative to the success of all teams using the VEXnet Key 2.0. As such, VEXnet Master Code v4.21 and VEXnet Key 2.0 Firmware v1.43 will be required for all teams competing with the white VEXnet Key 2.0 at the VEX Robotics World Championship. No exceptions.
VEX recommends upgrading and testing your robots at home before leaving for the event. For those unable to do so, but still wish to take advantage of the improved durability and reliability of VEXnet 2.0, we will have VEX Staff on-site to assist teams in successfully completing this upgrade. A check for this firmware will be a mandatory part of team inspection for all teams competing with the VEXnet Key 2.0.
Teams using the black (original) VEXnet USB Keys will not be affected by this change and will not be asked to update their firmware.
We shipped 5 days ago. A bit late for us East coasters that ship and depend on slow ground transportation.
Luckily our teams are more comfortable on Vexnet 1.0 still. (Knocking on wood)
But thanks for fixing things. Is the debug stream more reliable in this release? Is that what is meant by “radio setting tweaks” and “crucial bug fixes”?
travelling from the UK - got it all cleared and ready to go in case, gotta unpack it all now … like layers of bubble wrap to get to robot to upgrade :S
we were going to ship from UK, changed when we were told that we had to ship 3 weeks before event, and it was as much as a seat on the plane.
If you are using VEXnet 2.0 then this update is worth doing (well, mandatory). There will be plenty of “experts” available to help with upgrades next week if anyone is worrying.
We just check our robots every year… we haven’t had a problem, my driver gets to practice more all the way up till Wednesday morning when we fly out, then unpack it right as we arrive and practice more it allows him to stay fresh and lets us build more, jut added a ton to the robot, tested it to perfection, and programmed some new auton. I would recommend checking it if you guys get to go again. Good Luck this year!
