This is fantastic news.
We have had some major connection issues in the past with connections dropping at competition, and these new keys will hopefully remedy this situation.
Thanks Vex.
We have our keys wrapped with electrical tape to serve basically the same purpose as the fins on the new keys - to hold them tightly inside the cortex. Would this be considered “damaged?”
This would not be considered damaged. Thanks for checking!
Sorry if I sound like an idiot, but why should my team and I consider upgrading to these keys? It does seem worth the hassle to try to get the coupon to upgrade something that works.
you’re not an idiot, just lucky. people across the board were having connection issues with the old keys; but if you’re happy with the old ones then you’re set.
Thank you for the information, and thank you for your effort…
Is this year where the 2.0’s will be mandatory or will you wait till after the Skyrise Season?
VEXnet 2.0 keys are not generally mandatory for VEX Skyrise, however they are highly recommended. There may be some large events that specifically require the VEXnet 2.0 keys; please check with your RECF rep or local event partner for more details.
At worlds will they be?
A decision on this will be made closer to the World Championship.
Makes sense. Thanks for letting us know.
Due to continued demand now that school is back in session, we have decided to extend the VEXnet 2.0 Trade-In Program through the end of the year (12/31/2014). Codes generated will still be valid through 12/31/2015.
Head over to www.vexrobotics.com/tradein and keep on sending us those old keys!
I hate doing these replies, but
Thank you!
Just out of curiosity, I’ve been wondering for a while what happens to the old keys?
I wouldn’t think they can be used. Do they get scrapped/recycled?
Yeah! My procrastination did not bite me badly.
Expect about 40 keys coming in from the Vexmen soon!
So this is a great deal being able to trade-in our old Vex net keys. Too bad that now we have we can’t get any replacements from VEX because they say they are out of stock. Of course some of their resellers have them, but the coupons are worthless at those sights. VEX sales still hasn’t responded to my emails about availability. Did VEX not expect this type of response or do they have that serious of a logistics issue. Although this isn’t an IQ forum, same type of issues with those products.
They are in stock in Canada, so you could buy them and they ship to the USA, but I don’t know how much that would cost.
Unless the coupon codes are country specific, then that doesn’t work.
RobotX, Contact your local VEX Reseller and see if there’s something they can do for you. They might have keys they can lend you, or be willing to accept a return (of the new keys) once you get ones from VEX with your coupon.
How many are you looking for?
Hi RobotMesh,
Just curious, would you guys be willing to do this. For example, we have a competition on the 18th, so could we buy the VEXnet Keys and then return them after the competition.
If not, can we buy them, and then have VEX send the 2.0 keys directly to you guys, and then you guys can count that as a return?
Sorry if that sounds confusing.
Thanks,
Sumant
