Vexnet Joystick not connecting to Cortex

I’m just getting started with vex, and we’ve been trying to connect the wireless controller to the cortex for use with the clawbot. The Game and Robot light on the cortex flash green fast, while the joystick controller has a solid green joystick light and the vexnet light flashes orange when they try to connect wirelessly.

We’ve been trying to use the default clawbot program and we have synced the joystick with the cortex.

have you connected the Joystick to the cortex with the orange cord? That needs to be done before it will connect wireless.

We had a similar problem after the clawbot. You should probably do the following first:

@Nathan_Demarco have you connected the Joystick to the cortex with the orange cord? That needs to be done before it will connect wirelessly.

If it still doesn’t work after that, you should probably do the following.

In RobotC, there is an option to download firmware. Use it every so often. Here is a picture of it.

Another thing I forgot to add in the original post is that motor 10 runs automatically on cortex startup.

@Nathan_Demarco We used the orange cable to download the program, then we use it to plug the controller into the cortex with power on both on in order to sync it.

@Bulldogs #5 I used that button and downloaded new firmware to the laptop we’re using and now the vexnet light on the controller flashes twice red with all other lights turned off. I power cycled it a few times and it still does it.
