What is a usually safe rank in skills to qualify for the Virginia States Competition? Our team is currently 39th in Virginia due to trying out very late in the game (we just started one month ago) and we’re having trouble finding any more competitions to enter. There are four competitions left before states- is it possible for those 4 competitions to allow other teams (trying out for skills/ qualifying to states) to knock us out of the range for going to states?
UPDATE: We’re 14th if you take out everyone that has qualified. There are currently 30 spots opened left.
And yes they could knock you further down if no one double qualifies.
see who is already qualified. then get rid of them in your state skill list and count the teams who are above you and haven’t qualified. So either one you get in based on how many spots left or too many teams are above you to qualify. But you should always try to win so i would try those comps.
There are 34 spots open and our team knows for sure that 10 teams above us in skills is already qualified (but we didn’t check the others). In one of the upcoming competitions, it is expected for a team that has qualified for states already to win the Excellence Award (the only award to qualify in that competition) so no new teams would qualify through an award.
Hi, y’all want to drive to Wilmington DE, I’ll find a spot for you at our Springer event on the 22nd. From the looks of VA, you are going to need a mid 40 to low 50 score to get in. Send me a personal note and we can talk. I’m looking for a practice field for the event.
I’m basing the invite on you are a middle school team and that your Girl Power submission was very good.
