Vision Sensor used in VIQC?

Hi guyz!

I was just thinking of using the vision sensor(s) in this year’s game Rapid Relay
buttt I wanted to know if this is allowed during official vex iq competions.

does anyone know if it’s allowed? Really appreciated for the replies!1

Welcome! I believe I know which vision sensor (Products - VEX Robotics) you are talking about and it is VEX IQ legal because it has the “IQ” tag. If you ever want to know whether something is competition legal, you can do a filter search on vexrobotics.com for “IQ legal”

Legal though it may be for VIQRC, it’s also discontinued and you cannot buy it anymore. The replacement for it is V5RC only; last discussion I saw had no plans for bringing back an IQ one.

I did buy one of the old ones and have played with it, but it seemed to be quite finicky and wouldn’t be something I would want to count on from a competition standpoint. It would have use in a classroom setting where lighting and things may be more consistent, and as part of a robotic system (like a sorter line or something) it would be useful.

The one cool thing about the discontinued one is the ability to stream video over WiFi, meaning you could have a Vex-legal camera on the robot while it’s driving around, although I don’t believe it’s allowed to be in WiFi mode during matches.
