Volunteer at VEX Worlds 2017

Volunteer at VEX Worlds 2017 We love our VEX Robotics World Championship volunteers! Thanks again for joining our team back in April of last year. We can’t say “thank you” enough, and we are truly hoping you can join us again in 2017! This season, VEX Worlds will be held April 19-25, 2017, once again in Louisville. We have a new format this year that will make it the best experience ever, for both participating teams and volunteers alike! The VEX Robotics Competition and VEX U (middle/high school and university teams) portion of the event will be held April 19-22; and the VEX IQ Challenge (elementary/middle school teams) portion will be held April 23-25, 2017. This format will give all teams the same incredible experience in the main arena, and also their own celebration parties afterwards! For volunteers, we are happy to share some exciting improvements that will make your experience the best it can be. The new competition format will not only give you more choices of shifts to better fit your schedule, but will also result in vast improvements in registration/check-in, meals and snack breaks, and the volunteer parking process, including electronic parking passes in advance for those volunteering one entire day or more. Additionally, we are very proud to announce the launch of an entirely new scheduling platform called Shiftboard. You will now be able to request and self-schedule volunteer shifts online, making it easy for you to select and view your shifts from any computer or mobile device. Please note that shifts will become available for scheduling as World Championship gets closer. You must first register using the online system to create an account, and then we will send you an email notification when shifts are ready to view. To register, please visit our VEX Worlds Volunteers page - VEX Worlds Volunteers - REC Foundation and choose the appropriate online form - you can register as an individual or as a group if you’d like to register two or more under the same email address. We are in greatest need of volunteers who can help an entire day or multiple days; however, some positions have shifts available from 4-10 hours (shifts will be posted closer to the event). Hotel and travel information can be found in the FAQ section of the VEX Worlds Volunteers page, or access directly on the Hotel Booking Site - http://gettravel.com/2017-vex-robotics-world-championship/ for both teams and volunteers. If you are registering a classroom or group of volunteers, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Janice Miller, at [email protected] or call (903) 401-8065. We love groups! Please visit our VEX Worlds Volunteers page - VEX Worlds Volunteers - REC Foundation to register and find answers to the most commonly asked questions. If you have additional questions, please email our Volunteer Care Team at [email protected] . We look forward to seeing you in Louisville in April! I was going to do this, since this will be my tenth year of VEX. What I found was hotels downtown had really jacked up the rates. To fly in to help set up then leave the next day after the event was $3000 in hotel bills. Yikes!!
