Every year at Worlds, we see spectacular robots competing for the Worlds bid. But often times, the teams that would be awesome partners for each other end up in different divisions. What robots from past years would you have loved to watch paired up with each other?
Pick any past game, and pick 3 robots from that season that you think would make the perfect awesome elimination alliance. You can use pairings that actually happened, or you can mix it up a bit! You can do multiple alliances for multiple games, but please make sure that all 3 robots on an alliance are from the same year!
Round Up: 44, 1103, 254A. Great overall scorer to cover high goals, Green Egg goal lifter for the weighted bases, and 254A’s ability to descore goals in the tower. Plus two high hang capable machines.
In Round Up, either 2921 robot paired with better luck and a stronger drive train.
Haha, we would have loved to be with 44 that year but maybe it wouldn’t have been a healthy pair having two goal dumpers paired up. Then again, when you are against a goal dumper it could have been useful. Like prior to worlds, aMEss and 2921 robots - 4 goal dumping robots practicing together…
In Gateway, I’m sure anyone would have been happy with 2W.
But overall, I’ve always been happy with the alliances i get, and I never like to doubt my choices for alliances.
In Sack Attack, I could not have been happier with my alliances. 1492A were great, and we were so lucky to get 2911 as a third. I believed they would be gone by 3rd robot selection. I actually used and still use the term ‘dream alliance’ when it comes to them Same for Asia Pacifics last year, with 2915A and 8059. And NZ Nationals this year with 2941B and 2918A. but I’ll stop the list now so that people won’t be reading this forever
These all sound like epic alliances!
For Round Up I would go with 1103, 44, and 2921. 2 goal-dumpers able to switch off being paired with the best scorer in the world would have been fun to watch!
In Gateway, I personally would’ve liked an alliance of 2915A, 2W, and 1107B. 2W could play matches where brute force or instant expansion were needed to protect 1107B, and the combo of Lynfield’s driving and 2W’s awesome defense would be epic!
In Sack Attack, 2915A, 2941A, and 44 would be awesome. 44’s defense and descoring capabilities were great, and paired with the best scoring/descoring robots in the world, they would’ve had a huge advantage!
The best scorer and two fantastic weighted goal dumpers. 1200 could also lift the ladder and put it on the weighted goals, locking them down and preventing any sort of descoring.
I would pay to watch that alliance. No disrespect to 44 and 1103 both by far the biggest innovators in Vex but to see Skyler trolling with his superstacker and Murdo unleashing his max stack at the end would be an all timer.
Same for Asia Pacifics last year, with 2915A and 8059. And NZ Nationals this year with 2941B and 2918A.
