Update on Teams and Events

Just three months into the school year, November brings us up to over
5,500 VEX teams world wide with more than 80 local events in cities
across the globe this month alone.

VEX World Championship 2013
The VEX Robotics World Championship, presented by the Robotics
Education & Competition (REC) Foundation, is a gathering of top
robotics teams from around the world to celebrate their
accomplishments and compete with/against the best of the best. The
2013 VEX Robotics World Championship will include top teams from over
230 VEX Robotics Competition tournaments happening in cities around
the world from May 2012 to March 2013. Teams will play the game Sack
Attack for the 2012-2013 season.

The REC Foundation has worked with GET Travel http://www.gettravel.com/vexroboticschampionship/
to create a one stop shop VRC World Championship travel website. This
year’s travel website provides a convenient location to find the

**Over 20 hotel options in one location
**Airport transfer options
**Specially priced entertainment options including Disneyland parks,
Knotts Berry Farm and several attractions near the Anaheim Convention

2012/2013 STEM Competition Without A Tournament
Check Out the Online Challenges Today! Do you want to design robots,
produce videos or write great stuff to win prizes and an invitation
to the 2013 VRC World Championship? Check out the RECF Online
Challenges today! They are the best way to participate in
competitions without traveling to a tournament.

Online Challenges - http://forum.robotevents.com/design/ are now
open for submissions at http:/ /forum.robotevents.com/design/ .
January 11, 2013 is the deadline for all online challenge
submissions. Teams should remember that participation in an online
challenge is a prerequisite to being considered for the Excellence
Award at the 2013 VRC World Championship.

The TSA-VEX Robotics Competition provides students with a hands-on,
co-curricular competition for learning about science, technology,
engineering and mathematics (STEM) and complements the existing
technology-related competitions offered by TSA. TSA-VEX Robotics
teams compete either at events held at state TSA conferences or at
other official VEX Robotics Competition tournaments. The season
culminates with a championship event at the national TSA conference.
The 2013 national TSA VEX Championship tournament will be comprised
of four categories of events.

This new format will provide teams with the same action packed
experience of past years and it will enable team members to
participate in other TSA competitions during the national TSA
conference. Read about the new TSA VEX Competition format here - http://www.robotevents.com/robot-competitions/tsa.

Assistance with Troubleshooting Your Robot
VEX Robotics has developed a handy VEX robot troubleshooting guide
that all teams should know about. The guide provides solutions to the
most common problems experienced while teams are working on their
robots. Download a copy of this guide from here - http://content.vexrobotics.com/docs/VEX_Robot_Troubleshooting_Flowchart_0811.pdf .

Global Skills Challenges

The Global Skills Challenges are additional ways for teams to earn a
qualifying sport at The 2013 VEX World Championship Event in April.
The top 30 team scores in both the Programming Skills and Robot
Skills Challenges as of March 5, 2013 will earn a qualifying spot to
the 2013 VRC World Championship.

VEX Forums
The VEX Forums are a collection of communities of great educators,
students, mentors and experienced VEX teams that share the VEX
Experience in a positive way. Consider taking a few moments to
register and experience what is happening throughout the World of
VEX. There are areas of conversation ranging from the Technical to
the sharing - “Hey look what we made” experience of young minds
developing into the next generation of technical experts in their
chosen field. Visit vexforums.com it is worth your time.

**Volunteer Call to Action **
You can be a part of the excitingVEX Robotics events as a volunteer. Your local Event Partners are looking for volunteers to help make their event a success. Many positions are non-technical, some do require training such as Referees and Judges. This is a great opportunity to get involved in community events, and the students benefit from these educational experiences for many years into the future. Please contact your local Event Partner to sign up to volunteer. You can register on the National Volunteer Registration online form and an Event Partner will contact you.
