I’m not sure when exactly it started (it predates me joining the Vex Forums / Discord server), but I know it started a few years ago.
It’s been a pretty long running and fairly wide spread joke where lots of people want the GDC to come out with a water game (whatever that entails).
As cool of a game concept as I can theorize (which I might add here soon), VRC is a land based competition which is meant to be widely available for teams and thus it also has to be low cost, something that Hundreds or even Thousands of gallons of water isn’t.
I think realistically the closest we’re ever going to get is a game with water themed game elements.
This is completely a joke and no one really has the intention of carrying these ideas out. But yes these ideas would not work with the current vex electronics, but Vex Robotics is all about creativity and I’m sure someone could find a work around. It could be simply applying some sort of sealant in all the ports to waterproof it.
Ok, I understand now, I am a foreigner (my native language isn´t english) and I do not understand some topics such as “Chit-Chat” … thanks for clarifying the intention of this forum topic. Continue, I will not intervene anymore. OhYaYeet, thank you !!
I’m sorry if came off as a bit harsh as this wasn’t my intention, but please do feel welcome to intervene as the point in this forum is to share ideas and opinions.
A possible game @Arrash and I, along with a few other 2158 people came up with, was basically a 12 foot cube of water with some rings that are equally dense as water, and some that sink. The rings would be scored on… something, never figured that out lol, with the heavy rings being worth twice as much.
would be interesting to see if robots would be like boats with long arms to reach under water, or if they’d be like submarines. or sink to the bottom and just drive around really heavy.
I think something that would make the water game concept somewhat more realistic and easier on logistics would be instead of bringing the water to the fields, to bring the field to the water by using an existing swimming pool and submerging the field elements in it.
Many High schools already have swimming pools that would be big enough to hold a pretty big field.
This is kinda wack but whatever.
The field is still 12x12 but in the middle are two trough sorta things that are 6x2 each filled with water. Each bot has a cup with a few small objects inside of varying densities which cannot be picked up if dropped. The field is split in half with one member of each alliance on each side. You have to fling the water and little objects in your cup to your alliance. The end score is calculated from the amount of water in the cup (not very important) and number of objects. However, the alliance the drains less of their trough also gets a big bonus.
Okey dokie, It is time to start. Welcome to the 2026-2027 VexIq and Vex V5 challenge game. Here there is gonna be two teams and the two teams objective is to get a rare golden cube with out their robot falling off the track. The field size will be a 16x64. There would be a track on top of the water, so be care full and make your robot as light as possble. The two teams have to claberate to get the two golden cubes back from where it started from. There is also programing challenge, You have three mins to get the one golden cube from the spot and back. Well guys that is the 2026-2027 challenge , we hope you will have a fun time.
