Way to not drill holes for High Strength Shafts

a claw-bot :worried: it couldn’t reach the tower so we added a longer arm but is weighs to much for the normal axles

could you pm me a picture?

if i remember ill get it to you on Tuesday

if it is weight issue, you need gear up with gear ratio. Simply add HS shafts will not solve your issue.

It’s worth remembering this note from the High Strength Shaft product page:

VEX EDR 2", 3", and 4" High Strength Shafts are actually designed about 1 mm shorter than their respective 2", 3", and 4" 8-32 Standoffs.

This means that if you use standoffs to hold together two pieces of metal, the High Strength Shaft can rest on High Strength Shaft Bearings attached to those two pieces without any cutting required.

If you have the High Strength pillow bearings you can set them on top of c-channel.

as far as I know high strength pillow bearing do not exist.

Oh oh right. This is what a team of mine did, and I thought it was rather clever. What they did is they took 2 pieces of 3 long ribbon, attached the first two holes to a piece of C-channel and did the same with another piece of ribbon two holes to the right. What this ends up doing is you have two pieces of ribbon that are sticking up one hole above the C-channel and are one hole apart from each other. Using this you can mount a high-strength bearing flat just above the C channel. YW

no, don’t do that the HS will be under tremendous stress and eventually the plastic will just grind away breaking your mechanism.
