At one of our last local events to qualify teams for the MD Championship several adults were discussing a few areas about the World Championship qualification process that seem unclear. Our local RECF representative has provided and answer for me, but given that a group of us thought the information was unclear, I figure others may have the same questions at some point and having them answered by RECF publicly on the VEX Forum would be best.

The state championship process ensures that the slots allocated to a state are filled with teams without a team filling more than one slot. So, for example, in Maryland, we have 15 HS WC slots, and 15 discrete teams will fill those slots with duplication. So if a team wins two or more qualifying WC awards at the state level, the duplicate slot will be filled by selecting the next available team on the Programming Skills rankings for that state. If there is a second case or a third case of duplicate qualifications, they are filled by selecting the next available team from Robot Skills rankings for the second case, and then back to the Programming Skills rankings for the third case. The question is - if one of those teams that qualifies at the state championship is also in the WC qualifying Top 30 on the skills rankings on March 2nd, is that also considered a duplicate qualification and will that duplicate space also be filled by another team from the skills rankings after the state championship?

Our state championship is on March 8th, after the March 2 world-wide skills rankings deadline. When it comes to filling slots, due to duplicate WC qualifications at the state championship, from the skills rankings, do the rankings on March 2nd apply, or are the skills results from our March 8th championship factored in the rankings used to fill duplicate slots for our state?
Thank you for addressing these areas of confusion.
