This is our team’s first time going to Worlds. What decorations/handouts should we bring? Also, how does the whole language barrier work with other countries?
On the second: Foreign Languages at Worlds
Stickers and wrist bands are always good as people like collecting them. (I can take a photo once I’m home) I have a wall of all the stickers and a bag of wristbands. Decoration can be really anything as long as its within the rules for the pits (FAQ) under the dimensions for the pit.
If you have any awards then those are good to bring, banners or posters are good too. I guess anything that makes it stand out.
Lots of booths choose to decorate based on their country or region of the united states. My team comes from San Diego, specifically very close to the US/MX border, so we like to decorate our pit with a beach theme and we hand out team stickers Mexican candy for people to try.
Hey congrats on making it to worlds first of all! And for decor/ handouts don’t do anything too big stickers (if your team has a logo) or pins work. Those little rubber braclets are also really inexpensive and easy to hand out. I’ve seen some people give out 3D printed game elements as well! People also always love candy and it’s also cheap. For the language barrier I’ve never had much of a problem. Most of the kids know basic English terms enough to communicate with no problems
I believe you can’t give out candy because it is edible.
