What do we think robots and scores at worlds will look like?

So I think we all know that at least one team is going to clear the field at worlds, but what will that robot look like? On you tube, the current meta seems to be either the robot with the 3 arms that carries a triple stack and the robot with one or two arms, but the top arm has a little hook to support a stack of two. I am sure there will be a couple of these at worlds, but it seems like there is a better design out there. Please don’t turn this into the robot design page, I want it to be more like a brainstorm forum w/ estimated scores, rather than a share you’re robot forum.

Id say the scores at worlds for skills will be near 150-250

And the teamworks probably near the same

i predict that the feild will be cleared in both skills and teamwork. I have a very good idea of what the robot may look like.

I have a good idea of what some robots may look like at worlds (depending on what other designs come out), and I think that sores in teamwork and skills will range from mainly 140 to 242.

I dont think the fields will be cleared. Maybe only like the top or the top teams

Skills will probably have 1/2 to 2/3rds of the field cleared with only very good teams getting higher than that. I think that teamwork will be able to get around the same, possibly a little more.

You might want to rethink that…

Yeah, you’re right. They’ll probably get 2/3rds or higher. I’m curious how anybody might get a max score though.

dang, i lave this alone over school and it blows up

I started reading this, and thought it was VRC at first, and I got real confused when you started talking about arms.

That was my video, and from my personal experience, you could with that robot (maybe), and definitely with a better design you could max out Driver Skills and probably teamwork with a good partner.

Why is everyone using arms?
Seems like have some kind of conveyor where you go up to a riser and conveyor it up would be best solution.
then you make it so you can hold as many as you want while also being able to control how many you put down.
Ex- have 3 orange ones and stack those then go to purp and stack 3 of those.

You could also hold more risers by have the conveyor be folded in half and flip up meaning you could be twice the height limit easily.

I actually made that. Trust me, it doesn’t work well at all. The conveyor is constantly sagging it never catches the risers well. I used supports on the sides but even with them the conveyor’s terrible. I had to wreck it and restart.

We tried that for about a week. It went horribly. The starting sizebox really gets you with that design as does the motor limit. You just can’t get tall and stable enough while still fitting within the 11"x19"x15". Separately, VEX IQ really isn’t meant for that kind of stuff and so it doesn’t necessarily work out well. If you can make it work though, I’d love to see it. I think that a more realistic solution along those lines is an elevator (although we couldn’t get that to work either). I am open to new designs though and would like to see some new ones.

The starting height limit is 15", and flipping up would mean 30". At 8.75" per riser (plus some room for slop), you can barely do three risers. This design would work for cubes, but not so for risers. Also, risers are heavy, and carrying just three of them slows down the robot a good deal, so double that would be like the design in Next Level that we tried where we brought nine hubs across the field at a time. The robot could barely move!

I actually made it within the size, it just wasn’t strong enough It would fold back along the full 19 inches of length and was just high enough to triple stack.

I’ll try and see if I can find a picture of it somewhere.

How did people get the link to the unlisted videos from your YouTube channel? Is there anyway I can get them too?

Unlisted means “only sharable by link”. So if one person gives the link publicly, anyone can use it.
