What do you call the sections on structural parts?

Every 5 holes are grouped together. Is there a name that they are typically called?

No.

My team just calls them “segments”, but there’s no real name for them.

“lengths of 5 holes separated by a notch”

Officially - no. there is no technical term for it.

But I have heard some workmen calling it “bracket”. Simly because the notches at both ends are like the “( )” for all the things between them.

I’ve heard them called “ lengths” as in “hey, can I have a 3 length c-channel?” (15 holes)

I just call it by the number of sections.

EX: can I have a 5 long 2 wide c channel?

EX (For specific hole number, such as 27): Can I have a 5 Long with 2 extra holes?

I think we are going with segments. We all seem to like the term.
