What is the worst thing that happened to you during a competition?

Showing off our 4 bar in front of the judges and the entire this snapped every single piece. one half of a 1x18 went onto the judges. We won build. idk how???

During over under we were launching balls across during the state final, and our opponent’s PURELY DECORATIVE cardboard sign magically fell off and hung off their “climbing mech” that had no way to climb. It blocked all the balls we launched, so we were losing by about 18ish points in the last 20 seconds. We went to go climb, and we were in the air about to lock in our climbing mech when our opponents “drove under us,” which knocked into us, knocking us to the ground with 2 seconds left. In the end we argued with the ref, and the ref claimed it was unintentional that they knocked us down and their decorative sign fell and acted as a blocker. We lost by 18 points; the climb was worth 20 if they counted it.

During a local middle school competition, my team and our sister team (1028K) were in the semifinals. We thought we had a shot at finals, and we played a match that might have been close, but we could have won. However, his robot wouldn’t start and my intake broke, so we lost and never qualified for us open. Sad.

Our very first competition, my poor girls put the robot down to play and never had the robot turned on…. Lost so many seconds getting it on because they weren’t used to it either

We did the same thing once. Luckily, we were used to turning on our robot.

The worst thing that happened to us in a competition is that it was our first year in V5 and we made it into states. When we got there our robot (hero bot) was out of size so we had to modify that and it didn’t function anymore. Also, during a match against the 1st and 2nd place teams, our wheel fell off and our arm stopped working so we got destroyed 56-0.
High Stakes was a fun way to start off my v5 journey.

in a sig and regional event we had a 6 man team but only me and another kid came so we. had no loader or scout and for both events our robot sucked and discombobulated

That same exact thing happed to us!

My friend dropped the robot. He got Kicked. HOORAY.

For me it’s gotta be uploading a code change and the robot breaking AT STATES. We switched to EZ-Template to add PID and Odom to our robot, and I don’t know CPP. This happened to me right before Q61 at Cali R4 states this year, my goats on 462V carried us to a 69-33 win, that was our only win at states unfortunately. I was able to re-code the whole robot in Python, but we didn’t have an auton so it just picked up three blocks. That whole tournament my team was a mess, to be fair I was one of two who did Vex previously so we weren’t the most insane of a team, I’m just cracked at notebook so we qualed from Design.

This is the worst thing to happen to me:

We have 2 coaches
After getting getting accepted for states one said that we can not change our robot but the other said that we are not going to state with a Huey, we decided to make a Scorpion and it was an epic fail. The Pin clamp worked sometimes and others it did not, but the beam clamp never worked so we came up with the idea to use the beam clamp to pick up pins and the person giving a play by play of the comp. keep saying “and team LeBot Jr. stacks a PIN with their unique claw”.We went to region 4 Texas State and got carried by Norte Dame Catholic School. That last you want to have happen to you is to get carried. And because of getting carried we got 3rd place in finals.

The worst thing that happened to use was that our coach went to get us pizza for lunch break. In the meantime we were running matchs like usual and we had a big problem. So, we fixed it and while the fixing happened we kinda deleted our code by accident and we got so cooked. But fortunately we have a ver very good coder on our team that I don’t know but recoded the robot in 15 min and restored it. And we won- it was the state championship for vex iq.

This season or when?

For me it was when we had a match but this little kid stole our controller, so we almost missed a match at States.

(V5) We failed inspection because we misunderstood a sizing rule. Then a piece on our numatics broke, so they wouldn’t move up or down, so we had to ask the home teams for an extra (right before a match btw). The numatics also broke before the last finals match, and the opposing alliance had to call for time so we could fix it. (We lost, but it was to the best in the state.)

Can you direct them to the student-centered policy???

It happened this year

we got paired up with a team who built the slowest and clunkiest bot imaginable (and it couldn’t even score!) also, a terrible photo was taken of me while i was Locked In (my mouth was open and i looked absolutely braindead) and lives on in the 2024-25 yearbook forever, or until all of the copies are destroyed

replying a litte late but unfortunately we didnt

A screwdriver fell out of our robot in worlds during auton. We lost 115-0. lol
