What should we use our pneumatics for?

My team just got pneumatics, and we already have working wings and have no need for an intake or blocker, so we’re looking for some creative ideas to use them for. We don’t have very many pistons, so something involving 2 or less pistons, thanks!

Welcome to the forum!
If you wings are run by motors, you could switch to pneumatic-driven wings which would free up motors. You could also make a flip up blocker mechanism or use them to make a climbing clamp. There’s plenty of options. We use them for our wings and for a elevation ratchet.

We use two pistons for flaps. These are super useful in skills to push lots of triballs as once. Another option I have seen teams use pistons for is a 2 piston blocker. Some teams even have a triball launcher on top. I would watch some tournaments online or look at robot reveals to see what seems to be most effective and then build a prototype of that.

Besides the things mentioned, here are some others:

  1. PTOs (pneumatic transmission something), where an actuatot would switch a gear between two mechanisms, enabling a motor to perform multiple taskd (“moyor sharing”). There are plenty of topics on the forum for this
  2. Slappapult angle changers
  3. Elevating shooter mechanisms
  4. Pneumatic clamp or lift for hanging

Thanks for all the suggestions, we’re planning to make a blocker.

The only thing I can see you doing with it is replacing your wing system to free up motors then create a 6 motor drive train, if you don’t have one, or something else like that.
