what to do about...

what do you do about people on your team, who are constantly rude/mean/annoying/don’t know anything about robotics and/or have an ulterior motive for joining?
it’s really frustrating because he interferes with the progress of our bot.

Our team has alot of that. The best solution is to highly educate them, try to get them involved with desgning, simple building like mimicing a piece you have already made, or even making a mock field. If they have too much time on their hands they might start to act like the way they did, so get them to work so that they can’t goof around.

but what if they’re like that all the time, not just in robotics?

then that guy has to be disciplined, perhaps?

in my robotics class a few years back, my 3-man squad had a guy like that… generally he sat on his butt, designing next to useless ideas that required extensive modification and re-design (not fun on a tight schedule), and had no inclination to do a whole lot of anything… untill a donut run was involved…

i would suggest you have him run out and get donuts, coffee, etc., and draw up some small sections of your squads bot, then have him put those together while you and your other teammates continue on the main sections. even let him do some programming (make sure you have a copy of your original program !!), and if he gets stuck, help him out a bit, but dont give him the answers, let him build his problem solving skills some. if the problem persists, let the higher ups know…

lol I think it would be a loooong run for donuts where my team is >:**)

Think “positive” people. If you’re looking for someplace to whine about teammates, go elsewhere.
