I would argue that having a pooper is better overall:
You can still do all of the strategies that a robot without a pooper could because you do not have to poop.
A robot with a pooper is more adaptable as it allows you to conform they way you play to fit the opponent. If you want to be able to eject the balls during a game you can, but you can also choose to not eject the balls.
The only thing you lose is a minor loss in cycle speed and chain breakages; both of which can be negated with good build quality.
Basically, I believe that a robot with a pooper is much more versatile in competition; you can eject the balls, or you can leave them in the goal. This is what makes the pooper more useful (imo) than a robot without one, as it can adapt to your opponents strategies.
Having a pooper means that you can do basically everything that @Xenon27, and @Ryan_4253B said, surely thats better than only being able to do only one of those things!
Tbh, I would strongly doubt that your arguments will be a problem for this yearâs competition.
The drivers can simply âpoopâ the balls where it will be hard for the opponent to get them. Also, pooper doesnât mean no de-scoring. If the driver is good enough, (FYI our driver is phenomenal) you can make row points and poop balls at the same time.
Efficiency. You can just de-score the opponentâs ball and throw it out on the side or just keep it, but depending on your strategy, pooping out balls might make things faster and easier.
I donât get how pooper loses efficiency. If the spinners are fast enough, cycle time will be the same as just a regular snailbot. Whatâs more, it the gear ratios are done right, it might be faster than normal snailbots.
Not if you have a good programmer. We can just do multiple trials and perfect the code. Although during autonomous, I donât think pooping will be necessary.
First, I wasnât telling you that you should use it. Also, chains donât always break. But if itâs really risky, then we can just use gears instead of chains.
No offense, but I donât think you should state âThe best design for a snail bot is just a simply 3 ball capacity ones with extremely fast cycle time.â like itâs a fact. There can be other designs that are better. Also, the hood that is a piece of straight plastic rather than a rounded piece connected to the spinners will increase the accuracy when shooting the ball really fast. Good luck on your season too, see you at Worlds.
