Are there any very compact lifts that could be used for elevation? Our current robot is a 6" bot so we can descore, but we are having trouble with coming up with a lift for elevation. We have about 4" of vertical space for when the lift is down, and need to to extend at least 14" so we can elevate using the crossbar. Any suggestions on what lift would fit these requirements?
You could use a scissors lift. You know those like construction vehicles, like in the mr beast lego video. That thing.
When thinking popular elevation mechanisms for descore bots 9364h’s passive hang is the first that comes to mind.
Apart from a traditional barrier park, another very simple solution for an a tier hang that allows you to pick a partner with a crossbar hang is a unique barrier parking method seen on 1095r’s bot.
However, this would be more difficult to power with a motor than hailstorm’s hang if that’s a constraint for you
If you’re feeling ambitious, you could experiment with something like 80001b double play’s vertical pole hang (It’s at least b-tier, I think its c-tier?)

I love this elevation mech but its so fancy, I don’t think its within most team’s limits. Probably better off with the simpler designs. Double play op

I’ve seen the first two but 800001b’s is really interesting, I think it could be adapted to be simpler, thanks.

80001B does have an… interesting elevation. Never seen anything like it.

Their elevation mechanism reminds me of 229V’s hang mech.
Thats what we tried but on a much bigger scale its very hard to get a scissor lift to pull up your robot, you have to :
- Design a lock mechanism motors give out
- Make the acutal scissor lift took is months because we weren’t very experienced
- Have the load centered on the robot for any kind of good non bending motions
- Have it braced enough to hold your robots weight
I don’t doubt its possible but in the amount of time you have I wouldn’t recommend you do it. With the space you have your can only build a very short one as with c-channel which is what I recommend it its at about 2.5" with 1 layer it has about 11 inches of expansion for a pretty long one. It’s very hard I would recommend a passive hang mechanism instead powered by pnematics or even a balancing hang mechanism as its very easy to do.
