What would we need to go private

Our team is currently a part of a club, however we are thinking about going private. Can anybody guide us on what we would need to go private (including tools), how much it would cost, and how we could get sponsors?

Thx,

This is the link to 9499E private team’s spending. If your team wants to save on costs, I would reccomend adding members as all of you can just split costs for everything. I am on a 3 person private team and we just split all costs. https://wiki.purduesigbots.com/team-administration/team-finances/one-year-team-financial-breakdown

The link shows $75 for tools. Does that include things like bandsaw, angle grinder, and bench grinder. If so that seems very cheep. I checked what it would be for the aforementioned tools and the total came out to be $647

It is possible to use a hacksaw and hand files instead of a bandsaw and grinders.

It will take longer to do things, but it will get the job done (and there are fewer ways for the students to injure themselves).

If you were to purchase those tools, I agree the cost would be higher. Our team did just got a handsaw as the sole additional tool. If you look at the extra tools that the team purchased in the link, they did not purchase any of those other tools that you are mentioning.

A dremel tool with a few different heads would be perfect for this (though for cutting you have to be patient)

We would also need a belt sander

If it takes less than 3 mins to cut a c channel with a hacksaw all we would need is a dremel and an angle grinder.

How long would it take to cut an aluminum c channel with a hacksaw? Also would it bend the c channel?

As for the first question, it depends on which C channel you are using, but it usually isn’t that long. For the second question, ideally you would want to get a clamp to keep the c channel in place which sawing to prevent bending.

I want to point out that this is older data, as evidenced by the cost of Worlds being a little under 500 dollars. As a result, the other numbers may be incorrect.

the article says that worlds registration is $495

4 year old article … and no telling how old their price are. Our first Worlds in Toss Up season 2014 was $750… This year registration for Worlds is $1800 …

I believe that 20-21 worlds was fully remote and registration fee approx 50% of normal (I forget all the details).
