Wheels and motors

At present our robot have only 2 motors (2-Wire Motor 393) that power and drive 4 wheels (3.25" traction wheels) on each side.
Someone suggested us to change such to use 4" Omni wheels and each wheel to be powered by its own motor - total of 4 motors.

How will this help us? Will it increase speed of robot? Will it increase the push power (torque) of our robot or both? Or something even better?


Using omni-wheels will help you turn without skidding - that’s what the rollers on the omni wheels take care of. Using 4 motors does help speed and torque, and is a very common practice in VRC.

And really any robotics competition.
