When will we get the Spin-up Field/game elements?

Vex Robotics, @DRow,
When will we in the US get the Spin-up field/game elements that was pre-ordered and paid for 3 months ago?
The Vex customer service has been saying “next week” for the last 3 weeks!
The order page (VRC Spin Up Full Field & Game Element Kit - VEX Robotics) has been saying “ships in 1 week” for the last 2 weeks!

Orders are released on a first come, first serve basis.

With that in mind, the first batch of orders were released to the warehouse this morning. Depending on how soon you placed your order after they went live, your order should ship by the end of the week / early next week.

Any idea on Australian teams?

That was a statement I heard last week, and had received email from IFI it would be shipped last week.

Clearly, you guys have a lot of work ahead. The piece of new info “first batch of orders were released to the warehouse this morning.” So I am at a loss why email assuring shipments happened last week.

There have been a few missteps - for example RECF blast to VRC teams they could order and pick up game sets at Worlds. Not great.

As of now, I am resigned my club will not receive objects until after club ends …

I think it is important not to repeat expectations of availability time.

We are still in the middle of significant supply chain, personnel, freight, and many other shortages/delays. I’m glad they are shipping at beginning of summer as opposed to end of summer.

Not a fact lost on me. What I am asking is more concrete info vs “on hold”, “ships starting this week, and continuing next” to catch up (twice mentioned two weeks apart)… and email’s confirming shipping that week (last week)…

If you do not know - do not claim to know.

I do know that game set will not arrive before clubs end of the year here.

Now that is a bummer here, but what about summer programs - be happy they arrive after program ends?

There have been missteps - and continue. Rough times. I get it.

My team just received an email that the Spin Up field and game elements were shipped.

My team already got field + all elements in Australia, so they are arriving and stuff

Which is something that I couldn’t wrap my head around - Australia and NZ are like at the corner of the world and some how the stuff are always reaching this far corner before reaching Singapore.

I remember being told last year VEX pre-shipped the games to Australia so it wouldn’t take months and months for stuff to arrive. But a side-effect of that is Australia gets their fields before most other places.

Maybe if you ordered a full container load they would arrive faster

I’m going to assume there are enough Oceania teams to make sending a full container load there make sense. (Need a roboteer to math check this, how many field element sets will fit into a single container). I had a China → US delivery delayed because they wanted to fill the container and needed a few more orders.

  1. How big is a container?
  2. How big is a field element set?
Couldn’t find anything about this on VEX. @Specks, any idea what size the box(es) was (were)?

In the mean time…

Last season, there were 223 VRC+VAIC+VU teams in this area:
image

Assuming each team ordered 0.75 field kits on average (some orgs will have several teams sharing fields), here’s how big (in cubic feet) a field kit would have to be to fill a container of that size:

Container Size Size of Field
9’10" x 8’ x 8’6" 3.8
19’10.5" x 8’ x 8’6" 7.6
19’10.5" x 8’ x 9’6" 8.5
40’ x 8’ x 8’6" 15.3
40’ x 8’ x 9’6" 17.1
Number of Teams: 223
Fields per Team: 0.75

If each team ordered 2/3 field on average:

Container Size Size of Field
9’10" x 8’ x 8’6" 4.3
19’10.5" x 8’ x 8’6" 8.6
19’10.5" x 8’ x 9’6" 9.6
40’ x 8’ x 8’6" 17.1
40’ x 8’ x 9’6" 19.1
Number of Teams: 223
Fields per Team: 0.67

If a field kit box were 8 cubic feet, is could be a 2" cube. I don’t really know if that’s realistic. While a 2’x2’x2’ box is an unusually large package, I could see a VRC field kit taking that much space, and then 223 teams each buying an average of 0.715 field kits could fill a ~20’ x 8’ x 8’6" shipping container.

Sound realistic?

Maybe that’s the reason why Asia IFI insisted on at least USD 10k of orders before they shipped anything over to Singapore.

Heard VEX has insisted that the Asia countries must order from Asia IFI. And this slow delivery is a real pain. I don’t see how we can ever get a June SingVex with this pace of delivery.

In the past, we did get some sort of “priority” shipping of the game elements, and hence the reason why we could get a June SingVex up and running.

As others have noted, field/game elements are shipping - ours set to arrive tomorrow. Will see if FedEx can remember it is a school and that business hours are different from real world 9-5pm hours.

Ours arrived 3 days ago.

For those wondering… the discs themselves appear to be made from ‘croc’ material. Looks to be a closed cell medium density foam.

I pick at it HARD with my fingernails and don’t leave mark.

Is first come based on the date of purchase or the date that we get a quote? We have to go through a significant amount of administration before ours can even be purchased.

Well for us our VRC Spin up game elements ended up being lost by FedEx, We called them and they said it may take 3 days for them to find it.

Plan on having the disc hit the pipe inside the chains. It still stop and fall into the goal. If you just hit the chains, the disc will probably have enough momentum to keep going. This is what we are seeing so far.

Welcome to the forum.

This is a good question and may here are in the same boat. Not sure Drow would have the answer. You might check with [email protected]. If you get a firm answer, we would like to know.
