Where are teams getting those gigantic nuts for string shooter?

Where are teams getting those gigantic nuts for string shooter, I didn’t find it in the vex online store.

The are mounting nuts that come with the pneumatic air tanks.

Before shooting big nuts across (and possibly out of) the field, you would do well to review the latest game manual updates regarding safety.

You may also want to watch this Q and A as this may be ruled illegal depending on the answer:

Choose / make a better weight to launch. Those nuts have sharp corners that can potentially cause injury or damage to field elements (particularly field displays.)

Bundle some nuts in mesh with a zip tie closure and you have a projectile you can tune for mass that is reasonably soft.

That’s a good idea, I will try that.

Are you able to buy other non-vex nuts?

Why don’t you have a look at rule R11 in the game manual and let us know what you find out.

I am one of the people who has some very large nuts. I use these for my endgame expansion. They are very useful because they have the perfect size to weight ratio to launch long distances accurately. These large nuts can be purchased for your pleasure at Pneumatics - VEX Robotics. Sadly, the only way to acquire these nuts is to purchase a full pneumatics kit with them. However, purchasing this kit will make it much easier to make an endgame, as you would then have nuts. It would also allow you to use the pneumatics to create a flywheel that is much smaller and more accurate. Just make sure the string/rope you use for endgame is thick enough to be in the rules

It would be so nonsensical to rule them illegal, but, sure, it may happen.

Individual pneumatic components can be purchased from SME or suppliers, using the specific SMC part numbers. For example, air tanks can be found here: https://www.radwell.com/en-US/Buy/SMC/SMC/US14227-S0400

If you’re purchasing stuff outside of the VEX kits; however, don’t forget to buy air fitting and other needed parts.

Regarding launching large steel nuts across the field, remember R4 gives the head referee discretion on the safety of a mechanism. Accidently firing a large steel nut into someones face, for example, would be a safety issue.
