I’ve heard that they put up the tentative division list a couple weeks before Worlds, but I haven’t heard where to find that when it comes out. Is it something they email, put up on the Robot Events site, other?
Also, how “final” is that list? Should you generally expect to be placed in the division as listed or is it common to be moved around and end up somewhere different at the event itself?
From what I can tell the division lists are only available from robotevents.com on the “General Info” tab. If you look at last season’s worlds that is where they are. Last season’s Worlds
We were hoping to do some pre-scouting of division teams. For people with previous experience with that - does it make sense to do so based on the pre-event division list?
Some years we get the division lists in via as soon as they come out, some years there’s a delay. The first place the list is posted is usually a PDF on the event page on RobotEvents.
Once the division list is posted, it’s extremely unlikely they will change. Many people who are planning the event need a stable division list.
There are prediction sheets that aren’t made by RECF. However, the formula they normally use is well known so those sheets are an accurate reflection of what divisions would be at certain times. However, this is not official, it is not final (if teams drop then it will be shuffled), and RECF could change their formula without warning. If you’d like to see it, the prediction sheet is here.
