OK, it’s been a month and this very basic part has not been in stock at Vex. These are some of the most basic parts guys.
Where else can I buy Vex legal shaft collars? We have several precariously built robots right now due to no shaft collars holding things together. Robotmatter says they have them but it costs more in shipping and tax than Vex.
We do have a mentor who works for SAP that sell you guys a ton of supply chain software…
The VEX shaft collars are a pretty standard part, so it shouldn’t be too hard to find them.
I too think it’s a bit ridiculous that VEX parts are out of stock so often for so long. Every time (except once) that we’ve ordered Aluminum C-Channel it was out of stock
Thanks, the McMaster listing got me a good search term. I think the 3/16" bore one is what is needed. Can anyone confirm (not at a spot with a caliper right now)?
This seems to be what we want. A 1/8" bar hypotenuse would be 0.176" and the bore is 0.1875" of 3/16" so that seems right.
The Shaft Collar 16-pack (276-2010) should be back In Stock by the end of October.
The Clamping Shaft Collar (276-3891) should be back In Stock by the end of November.
We apologize for these delays and any inconvenience that they may have caused. Thank you for your understanding and for watching the product website before posting; it is always the first source for current stocking information.
As for purchasing 3rd-party replacement Shaft Collars for use in the VEX Robotics Competition, it’s important to always be cognizant of Rule <R7b>:
As clarified by Karthik in this Q&A response from last season, the term “identical” here refers to dimensions and shape. Please look carefully at the exact dimensions of any “non-VEX” product before using it on a competition robot.
Do you guys expect to run out of stock again at some point between now and say, April? Was there a unique issue that caused some of these standard parts to go out of stock, or just normal business operations?
I think the following part is the exact one: Climax Metal Products part C-015. Everyone else has a 3/16" bore, not 5/32" The OD and width are the same, just the inner bore diameter is wider by 1/32".
