honestly, guys they need to change the city like Dallas is cool and everything but going there more than 4 years successively is kinda getting to my nerves also it’s not the best state ever so,… I can’t imagine those living in foreign countries

I agree. Maybe there’s a reason why they kept reserving venues for more than four years? I wonder what thier process is for picking a venue. I hope they’re not making their decision on the last minute though.

May 6th - May 14th. Specific event dates for VRC VURC & VIQRC are not yet released.

Part of the reason World’s moved from Louisville to Dallas was that with the growth to 800 VRC HS teams at World’s Louisville would not be large enough. Another reason for the change to Dallas was Vex/RECF’s headquarters are close by, and they saved money by not having to ship people and equipment as far.

So, if one constraint is venue size (assuming RECF wants to keep Worlds at 800 teams, which, given the growth in overall teams since the Louisville days seems a reasonable goal), then using List of convention centers in the United States - Wikipedia there’s only maybe 18 convention centers to choose from, using KBH as the new minimum size.

Given all will be farther than KBH, that means RECF’s transportation costs will increase, potentially leading say “Music City” in Nashville to be more favorable than Detroit.

Generally, deals like this are multi-year, providing stability both for the venue and the customer. From what’s been made public about 2026 Worlds and the renovation at KBH, it seems like there’s a chance it’ll be a single year event. IMO, from RECF’s perspective, Dallas (and Houston) just offers too many intangible benefits to a Texas-based organization.

That said, RECF seems committed to having more and more Signature Events, whose purpose is to bring a “World’s-like experience” to more teams. Perhaps there’s a future where there are even more Sig Events and a smaller (say, maybe 500 team) World’s, but that’s pure speculation on my part. I think we’re already starting to see a de-emphasis on World’s for Elementary Schools (or at least smaller).

Reserving large venues need to be done well in advance (like a few years at least). Then you need to adapt your production (yes VEX Worlds is a production) to the venue, find local talent for production crew, etc… Typically, you will want to keep the same venue for a few years to get return on investment.

While it is hard for international teams to travel, it is best to site the vent where international teams can easily travel. Also, consider cost of trucking all the VEX competition gear from Greenville, TX (IFI/VEX/RECF HQ town) - Dallas was great in terms of proximity…

RECF programs are growing a rapid pace - it is unclear if one mega Worlds model can scale at same pace, hence a lot of emphasis on developing Worlds like experiences distributed all over the place through Signature events…
